How to Find a Flag Football League in Your Area

Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports. It has been around for many decades, but only within the last 10+ years has it exploded to beyond the college campus. Now, there are flag football leagues in most every county in the United States and many countries around the world.
How do you get involved? Follow these steps from Go Flag Football and you will soon find your way into the wonderful sport.
1. First contact your local parks and recreation department. They will be part of the local government agencies in a web search or phone book. Try to make your way to the director of sports and recreation. This person or department will be able to tell you if they run a league. If they do have a league, confirm that it is adult or youth.
2. Contact the Intramural Department of your nearest college/university. They may not have an “open” league but they should be able to help you find the nearest public league.
3. Perform the dreaded internet search. I say dreaded because you will literally find millions of results for “flag football.” In your search, be sure to include the city, county, and state you are located in. This may help some. Take your time and review the results of the search. You may not get a direct answer from the first few sites, but they may help point you in the right direction. Some sites will have leagues listed that they are aware of.
4. Perform an internet search on “flag football tournaments” for your area. If you have any good results, contact the tournament director for additional league information. There is a good chance the tournament director has done the homework and knows of the leagues in the area.
5. Send emails to everyone you know. With the sport as popular as it is, someone is bound to know about a local league.
